予測する

＊expect …　予測する、予知する、期待する。ビジネスの場で数字（決算など）の話を使うときにもよく使う。
→The company’s sales are expected to hit 2 trillion yen.
　会社の売り上げは2兆円に達する見込みだ。
→I will be expecting you at the meeting tomorrow.
　（※相手に対して）明日のミーティングで会いましょう。

＊predict …　予測する。
→Who could’ve predicted that?
　そんなの誰が予想できただろう？
→Can experts predict future earthquake?
　専門家たちは地震を予測することはできるのか？

＊forecast …　専門家が予報するイメージ。天気や経済状況、政治などを「予報」する。
→Did you check the weather forecast?
　天気予報を見た？
→The government lowered its economic growth forecast.
　政府は経済成長率の見通しを下方修正した。

先を見越す

＊look ahead to …　（将来に起きる）～について考えたり、計画を練ったりするという意味。
→We need to look ahead and see what options we have.
　私たちは先を見越して、どのような選択肢があるかを確認する必要がある。
→He never seems to look ahead to his retirement.
　彼は退職後のことを考えていないようだ。

振り返る、回想する

＊look back on …　～を振り返る。
→You shouldn’t waste your time looking back on things you can’t change.
　変えられないことを振り返って時間を無駄にするべきではないよ。
→Let’s just look back on our pleasant memories.
　楽しい思い出を振り返ろう。
