折る、たたむ

＊fold … たたむ。物理的なものを畳んだり、折る時に使う。
→Can you fold this shirt?
このシャツを畳んでもらえる？

＊fold up …. 折りたたむ。
→Let’s fold up this map!
この地図を折り畳んじゃおう。
→You can fold up that chair.
その椅子、折り畳めるよ。

妥協する

＊meet AA halfway　AA（誰か）と「中間地点」で結論づける、結果を出す。よく使う。
→We agreed to meet them halfway.
妥協して、彼らと中間地点で折り合いをつけることにしたよ。
→You have to meet me halfway if you want this relationship to continue.
この関係を続けたいのであれば、折り合いをつけてもらわなきゃ。

＊compromise 妥協する、屈従する。名詞にもなる。
→Let’s compromise at $300.
３百ドルで妥協しよう。
→You shouldn’t compromise your values.
