取る

＊take …　取る。物理的に何かを手に取るときに使う。
→I took some cookies from the counter.
　カウンターからクッキーを取ってきたよ。
→He took my purse.
彼は私のカバンを取った。

＊take AA by the hand[arm]　AAの手、あるいは腕を取る。
→He took me by the hand/arm.
彼は私の手・腕を取った。

取る＝外す

＊take … off　〜を取る、外す。物理的に服などを脱ぐ（外す）ほか、市場等から取り除くときにも使える。
→Please take off your shoes here.
　ここで靴を脱いでね。
→We need to take this product off the market.
　この商品は市場から出さなきゃね。

＊break … off　〜を取り外す。より大きなものから、部分的に取り外すときに使う。
→He broke off a piece of chocolate.
　彼はチョコレートを少し取った。
→We have to break off a large piece of the bread.
　パンの大部分を取る必要がある。

休みを取る

＊take … off　休みを取る。〜の間には曜日や期間等が入る。
→I want to take Monday off.
月曜日はお休みを取りたいです。
→He takes too many days off.
彼は休みを取りすぎる。

取る＝解釈する

＊take AA as BB　AAをBBと解釈する。AAにもBBにも、事象や人物など幅広く入る。
→Let’s take this as an example.
　これを例としよう。
→Can I take this as approval for the project?
　これはプロジェクトを承認してもらえたと取ってもいいですか？

コピーを取る

＊make copies/copy　コピーを取る。書類等のコピーをコピー機で取る他、対象物のコピー品を作る時にも使う。
→I can make you copies.
コピーを取ってくるね。
→I can copy these for you.
コピーしてあげるよ。

電話を取る

＊answer/pick up/get the phone　電話を取る、電話に出る。あくまに電話に取るだけであり、電話口で話すことは指さない。
→Can you answer/pick up/get the phone?
　誰か電話に出てくれない？
→Someone needs to answer/pick up/get the phone.
　誰か電話に出なきゃ。
