無視する

＊ignore … 無視する。意図して無視する場合もあるし、意図せずの場合もある。
→The child was crying, but the teacher ignored it.
　子どもが泣いていたが、先生はそれを無視した。
→I didn’t mean to ignore you.
　無視するつもりじゃなかったんだ。

＊overlook … 見落とす。意図せず無視してしまうときに使う。
→He overlooked the mistakes. 
　彼は間違いを見落とす。
→I can’t believe she overlooked this.
　彼女がこれを見落としただなんて信じられない。

＊disregard …　無視する。名詞としても使える。意識して無視するときに使う。対象物を軽んじるニュアンスを含む場合もある。
→Please disregard my message.
　このメッセージは無視してください。
→Just disregard everything you learned so far.
　今まで学んだことはすべて忘れて。

＊neglect … 無視するべきではないものを意図的に無視する。
→Neglecting one’s child is a common form of child abuse. 
　ネグレクトはよくある児童虐待の一種だ。
→The child was crying, but the teacher neglected it.
　子どもが泣いていたが、先生はそれを無視した。

見て見ぬ振りをする

＊turn a blind eye to AA　AAを見て見ぬふりをする。
→Don’t turn a blind eye to what is happening in Ukraine.
　ウクライナで起こっていることを見て見ぬふりをしないで。
→They turned a blind eye to human rights.
　彼らは人権を見て見ぬふりをした。
