＊be short for … 〜を略したものである。通常人の名前など固有名詞で使う。
→You can call me Liz. Short for Elizabeth.
リズって呼んでいいよ。エリザベスの略ね。
→Her name is Alex, short for Alexandra.
彼女の名前はアレックス。アレキサンドラの略。
