喜んで～する

＊be wiling to do …　～したがっている。「～してもいいけど」という意味にもなるので注意。やや躊躇している感じ。丁寧な場面、ビジネスシーンでもよく使う。
→Are you willing to pay for it?
　お金を払いたいの？
→The majority of the people are willing to use a coronavirus tracing application.
　ほとんどの人々がコロナの追跡アプリを使いたがっている。
→Do you want to go to a concert with me tomorrow? / I’m willing to, but I don’t know if I can.
　明日私とコンサート行く？　/　行きたいけど、行けるかどうかわからない。
→I’m willing to negotiate my salary.
　給与を交渉しようと思っているよ。

＊be glad to do … / be pleased to do …　喜んで～する。
→I’ll be glad to help you.
　喜んでお手伝いするよ。
→He was pleased to see you last night.
　彼は昨晩あなたに会えて嬉しかったみたいよ。

嫌々～する

＊do … against one’s will　意志に反しながらも～をする。ややかたい感じがする。
→I did say yes, but it was against my will.
　私はイエスと言ったけれど、意志に反してだったの。
→He signed the papers against his will.
　彼は自分の意志に反して署名した。

絶対～しない

＊wouldn’t dare…　絶対に～しない。自分だったら～を絶対にしない、したくないという感じ。
→I wouldn’t dare say that.
　そんなこと絶対に言わないよ。
→I wouldn’t dare call myself a role model.
　私は自分のことをロールモデルだなんて絶対に呼ばない。

何とか～する

＊manage to do …　～をやってのける。大変なことをなんとかやるイメージ。能動的に、かつうまく物事を対処できている場合に使える。
→I managed to escape.
　なんとか逃げることができた。
→Somehow I managed to finish the entire dish.
　なんとか食べ終わることができた。

＊cope with …　～（難しい状況など）をやりぬく、くぐりぬける。受動的でも使える。withや、対処しなくてはいけない具体的な問題がなくても使える。
→I don’t know how he’ll cope if he loses his job.
　彼が仕事を失ったら、どうやって対処するのか分からないよ。
→Hospitals are struggling to cope with the new coronavirus variant.
　病院は新型コロナウィルスの変異株に対処するのに苦労している。
→I’m sure they’ll cope just fine without us.
　彼は私たちがいなくても大丈夫だよ。

＊barely do …　すれすれのところで、かろうじて～する。ほとんど～してないという意味にもなる。
→I barely escaped.
　かろうじて逃げることができた。
→People’s behavior barely changed after a state of emergency was declared.
　緊急事態が宣言されても、人々の行動はほとんど変わらなかった。
→I can barely drink.
　ほとんど飲めないよ。

遠慮なく～する

＊don’t hesitate to do …　遠慮なく、躊躇せず～をする。
→Don’t hesitate to call me when you need me!
　私が必要な時は遠慮なく電話してね！
→Don’t hesitate to ask for help.
　遠慮なく人に助けをお願いするんだよ。

ベストを尽くす

＊do[try] one’s best　ベストを尽くす。　
→I did[tried] my best to make her feel better.
　私は彼女の気分を良くするために最善を尽くした。
→We tried/did our best, now we just have to wait.
　私たちはベストを尽くしたので、あとは待つだけだ。

＊make every effort / spare no effort　何かを達成するためにあらゆる手段（努力）を尽くす。spare no effortの方がややかたい。
→I made every effort to keep my job.
　私は仕事を続けるためにあらゆる努力をした。
→He spared no effort in helping my father.
　彼は私の父を助けるために努力を惜しまなかった。
→We will spare no effort to save the lives of the people.
　我々は人々の命を救うために努力を惜しまない。
