～したい

＊wanna do …　～したい。口語。「want to」より軽い。
→You wanna go to the beach with me?
　私と一緒に海に行く？
→I wanna go to the bathroom.
　トイレに行きたい。
→Would you wanna grab dinner next weekend?
　来週末一緒に夕ご飯を食べない？

＊want to do …　～したい。無難。
→I want to work in Mexico.
　私はメキシコで働きたい。
→My boss wants me to go out drinking with him.
　私の上司は、私と飲みに行きたがっている。

＊would like to do …　「～したいです」というニュアンスになる。丁寧語でやや控えめ。would love toはlike toよりもしたい気持ちが強いが、丁寧なニュアンスは変わらない。
→I would love to join but I have to work.
　行きたいんだけれど、仕事なの。
→I would like to have a cup of tea.
　お茶をください。
→I would like to take a break.
　ちょっと休みたいな。

～してもらえませんか？

＊Could you do … 　相手に可能かどうかを聞く。家族とかにはCan you do …でいい。
→Could you take care of my cat while I’m away?　
　私がいない間、猫の世話をしてもらえますか？（してもらうことはできますか？）　

＊Would you do …　相手にその意志があるかどうかを問うているイメージ。Could you do …より丁寧にお願いするときに使う。家族とかにはWill you do …でいい。
→Would you take care of my cat while I’m away?
　 私がいない間、猫の世話をしてもらえますか？
→Would you sign your name here please?
　ここにサインをしてくれますか？

～しましょうか？

＊Would you like me to …　～しましょうか？という意味だけれども、相手に自分が～してほしい意志があるかを問うているイメージ。丁寧な場面でも使える。
→Would you like me to help?
　お手伝いしましょうか？
→Is there anything else you would like me to do for you?
　他に何か私にできることはありますか？

＊Do you want me to …　～しようか？という意味になる。カジュアル。
→Do you want me to help?
　手伝おうか？
→Do you want me to give you a wake up call?
　朝電話をして起こしてあげましょうか？

～することに気が進まない

＊don’t want to …　～したくない。万能。
→I don’t want to go to work.
　仕事に行きたくない。
→I don’t want to get sick.
　体調を崩したくない。
→He doesn’t want to get hospitalized.
　彼は入院したがっていない。

＊be reluctant　しぶしぶの
→He was reluctant to join the game.
　彼は試合に参加するのを渋っていた。
→I understand why eateries are reluctant to obey the regulation.
　飲食店が規則に従いたがらないのもわかる。
→Why is he so reluctant?
　どうして彼はあんなに乗り気じゃないの？

＊be unwilling to do …　～したくない。don’t want toに比べややかたい。
→I understand why some parents are unwilling to send their kids to school.
　学校に子をやりたくない親がいるのも分かる。
→Some people are unwilling to take the vaccine.
　ワクチンを受けたがっていない人もいる。

～（しきりに）したがる

＊be eager to do ...　～したくてたまらない。
→He’s eager to travel to Japan.
　彼は日本に旅行したくてたまらに。
→She sounded very eager to meet him.
　彼女は彼に会いたがっているように聞こえた。
