風邪をひく
＊catch a cold 風邪を引く。
→Damn, I think I caught a cold.
やべー、風邪ひいたかもしれない。
→You do not want to catch a cold now.
今は風邪を引く時じゃない。
病気になる
＊get sick 病気になる、具合が悪くなる。
→I got sick after I ate a bad avocado.
腐ったアボカドを後具合が悪くなった。
→I hope you didn’t get sick after being in the heat for such a long time.
暑いところに長くいた後、具合悪くならなかったといいんだけど。
＊be sick/feel(be) unwell 具合が悪い。
→I was late because I felt unwell.
具合が悪くて遅くなっちゃった。
→Sorry for not picking up the phone, I was sick in bed.
電話を取らなくてごめんね。具合悪くて寝込んでいたの。
→We cancelled the trip because my mom was unwell.
母親の具合が悪かったので、旅行をキャンセルした。
貧血になる
＊have anemia/feel anemic 貧血になる。anemicはやる気の出ないという意味にもなる。
→I’m feeling pretty anemic.
結構貧血な感じがする。・やる気が出ないなあ。
→I think I have anemia.
貧血かも。
ひきつる、痙攣する
＊have a cramp/get a cramp crampは筋肉の収縮などによる痛みという意味。身体の一部分がひきつったり痙攣するとき、また生理痛などにも使える。
→My period cramp is so bad.
生理痛が本当にひどいの。
→I woke up because I had cramp in my leg.
足をつって目が冷めちゃった。
手術する
＊have an operation 手術を受ける。患者などが手術を受ける場合。
→I had an operation last week.
私は先週手術を受けた。
→I’ve never had a huge operation in my life.
私は大きい手術を受けたことがない。
＊operate … 手術する。医師などが手術を行う場合。
→He’s going to operate the patient’s heart tomorrow.
彼は明日患者の心臓を手術する。
