関係がある
＊have ～ to do with … ～と関係があるという意味だが、否定形（～と無関係）でよく使う。
→You have nothing to do with this.
あなたには関係ないでしょ。
→His illness has a lot do with his drinking habits.
彼の病気の大部分は飲酒習慣からきている。
→I have nothing to do with her.
私は彼女となんら関係がない。
＊be relevant to… ～と関係がある。relevantの形容詞で使うこともよくある。
→How is that relevant (to this matter)?
それが（この件に）どう関係しているの？
→I don’t think this is really relevant to you.
これはあなたに関わることではないと思う。
関係が良い
＊be on good terms with … ～と関係が良い。頻繁に連絡を取っている人よりも、やや疎遠な人について話すときに使う。
→Are you on good terms with your ex.?
昔付き合っていた人と関係は良い？
＊get along with … 「関係が良い」というよりも、「相性が良い」という意味合いが強い。
→We really get along with each other.
私たちは本当に相性が良いの。
→Do you get along with your boss?
あなたは上司と相性が良いですか？
＊hit it off 相性が良い。会ってからすぐにウマが合う、仲良くなるイメージ。
→We hit it off as soon as we befriended each other.
私たちは友だちになってからすぐに仲良くなった。
関係が悪い
＊be on bad terms with / not be on good terms with … 関係が良くない。bad termsとはっきり言い切るより、not be in good termsと濁した方が丁寧に聞こえる。
→We had a huge fight, and since then we’ve been on bad terms.
大きな喧嘩をして以来、関係が悪いんだ。
→I don’t know how she’s doing. I’m not on good terms with her anymore.
彼女がどうしているか分からないな。もう関係が良くないんだ。
干渉する
＊interfere with … 干渉する、口出しする。
→You have no right to interfere in our life!
あなたに私たちの人生に口出しする権利はない！
→Don’t interfere with the investigation.
調査に口出しするな。
巻き込む/巻き込まれる
＊involve …/＊be involved in[with] … AAに関わる、巻き込まれる。「巻き込む」という日本語のニュアンスにあるように、ネガティブなイメージがある。
→Were you involved in the accident?
あなたは事故に関わっていたの・巻き込まれたの？
→I don’t think you’d want to get involved with them too much.
彼らとあまり関わらない方がいいよ。
＊be caught (up) in … ～に意図せず巻き込まれる。
→So many politicians were caught up in that scandal.
あのスキャンダルには多くの政治家が巻き込まれた。
→Too many people are being caught up in drugs.
あまりにも多くの人がドラッグに巻き込まれている。
関連づける
＊relate A to[with] B AとBを結びつける、関連づける。ふたつの異なる物事や対象を結びつけるイメージ。
→The city’s high unemployment could be related to high crime rates.
その街の高い失業率は、高い犯罪率に関連しているかもしれない。
→Can you show us figures relating to the last six months?
過去6ヶ月に関連した数値を見せてくれないか？
＊associate A with B AをBから連想する、Bと付き合いがある。「付き合いがある」という意味で使うときはややかたい。
→He’s associated with drug dealers.
彼は麻薬の売人と付き合いがある。
→You can associate wealth with freedom.
自由からは富を連想することができる。
無縁である
＊be free of/from … ～から解放される。
→I wish I could free myself of responsibilities.
自分を責任から解放することができたらいいのに。
