繋ぐ、結ぶ

＊connect with　～とつながる。物理的につながっているときや、人間関係など概念的につながっているときにもこの言葉を使う。
→How can we connect with our customers?
　どうすればお客様とつながることができるだろう？
→You have to connect with the power within you.
　あなたは自分の中の力とつながらなくてはいけない。

＊link with　～とつながる。connect withと比べ、因果関係の有無について話すときに使うことが多い。また、linkを名詞として使うことも多い。
→Cancer has been linked to (or with) cigarette smoking.
　ガンは喫煙と関係があるとしている。
→Officials have denied link with the terrorist group.
　権力者たちは、テロリスト集団との関係を否定した。

＊tie …　紐などでつなぐ、縛りつける。概念的につないだ、結んだりするときにも使える。
→They tied me to a chair.
　彼らは僕を椅子に縛り付けた。
→The fate of the firms is tied to the local community.
　会社たちの運命は、地元のコミュニティに結びついている。

婚約する

＊get[be] engaged to …　婚約する。フォーマルでもカジュアルなシーンでも使える。
→When did you two get engaged?
　あなたたちはいつ婚約したの？

結婚する

＊get[be] married to …　結婚する。フォーマルでもカジュアルなシーンでも使える。
→Do you want to get married to him?
　あなたは彼と結婚したいの？

＊get[be] hitched　結婚する。カジュアルな言い方。アメリカではよく使う。
→We’re getting hitched!
　私たち、結婚するよ！
