口げんかする

＊fight …　喧嘩する。口喧嘩だけでなく、暴力等の伴う喧嘩にも使える。当事者の双方が感情的になっているイメージ。
→Do you ever fight with your family?　
　家族と喧嘩することはある？
→Kids fight all the time.
　子どもはいつも喧嘩をするものだ。

＊discuss …　議論をする。感情的になっているfightと違い、冷静に話し合っているイメージ。
→I usually discuss with my partner instead of fighting with her.
　パートナーとは、喧嘩というよりも議論をするよ。

口答えする

＊talk back to …　〜に口答えする。自分より目上の人に口答えをする。
→I can’t believe he talks back to me all the time.
　彼がいつも口答えをしてくるのが信じられない。
→Don’t talk back to your mom!
　お母さんに口答えするな！

抗議する

＊speak out against …　〜に対して公の場で批判する、抗議する。
→There are many people who are speaking out against mandating the jabs.
　ワクチンを義務付けることに抗議している人は大勢いる。
→Human rights activists spoke out against the LGBTQ website bans.
　人権活動家たちが、LGBTQウェブサイトの禁止に抗議した。

＊protest against …　〜に対して抗議する。特定の行動に対して反対の立場でいるとき、批判的な立場でいるときにも使える。
→The US said it will have a diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Games to protest against China’s treatment of the Uyghurs.
アメリカは、中国のウイグル人たちに対する扱いに抗議すべく、北京五輪を外交的ボイコットすると発表した。
→Thousands of people protested against the government’s COVID restrictions.
　政府のコロナ対策に対し、何千人もの人が抗議を行った。

＊demonstrate against …　〜に対して抗議をする。protestと比べ、デモ行進などの活動が伴うイメージ。
→Thousands of people demonstrated against the government’s COVID restrictions.
　政府のコロナ対策に対し、何千人もの人がデモを行った。

不満、苦情を言う

＊complain　文句を言う。無難。よく使う。
→I hate people who complain all the time.
　いつも不満を言っている人は大っ嫌い！
→I can’t complain.
　不満はないよ（＝最高だよ、という意味でも使える）。

＊grumble　文句を言う。complainと違い、「イライラした様子」で文句を言うイメージ。
→What is he grumbling about?
　彼は何について不満を言っているんだ？
